Traditional North Carolina Face Jugs have been an important part of American Folk Art for generations. Although the FACE JUGS here are not styled in the traditional fashion, they provide quality workmanship and an expressive design that is both functional and fun.
This year I have created a series of
FACE PLAQUES the Faces of the Elements. The faces of EARTH, AIR, FIRE, and WATER are each on their own a wonderful sculpture. Together they are truly powerful.
The GARDEN ART is also functional fun. The SNAIL, TURTLE and FROG are slug traps. An empty tuna can buried to ground level and filled with beer (empty and refresh as necessary), covered by one of these whimsical fellows provides a beautiful slug-free garden.
As always during the holiday season I have my own tradition, FABRIC ART. SANTAS and ELVES, SNOWMEN and REINDEER fill all the nooks at my studio.
I think of these crafty little creatures as fabric sculpture. They will surely bring holiday cheer to any mantle!
People have been using faces as a form of expression since the dawn of man. From cave drawings to Egyptian hieroglyphics, faces have been used to mark time, record history, and to provide enjoyment and entertainment.
The intention of my art is to bring a smile to your face. My inspiration comes from all around me. Whether I'm at the grocery or the airport, I'm surrounded by interesting faces. Sometimes the faces I create look familiar to me. Other times I'm just as surprised as anyone else to see how the expression looks.

These face jugs along with the plaques, the garden art and the fabric creations offer a unique and original line of products. The attention to detail and the distinctive personalities of each individual piece offers the buyer an opportunity to own a hand- crafted, one of a kind treasure that can be passed on through the generations.
